Amanda Holden has been slammed after she made a distasteful joke about European languages live on air during Eurovision on Saturday.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge was asked to present the UK’s points on the popular singing contest last night, however many viewers were more than unimpressed by her unflattering opening speech.
The blonde bombshell, 50, who recently landed her own TV show, donned an elegant nude ballgown with the Tower of London projected behind her, as she opened the night by attempting to speak in other European languages.
She said: “Bon soir. Goedenaond. That is good evening in French and Dutch although I’ve got absolutely no idea which is which.
“This is London calling. What a fantastic show this evening. I am Amanda Holden – I love Eurovision.
“The drama, the excitement and all the wildly over-the-top outfits – and that’s just me,” she said as she gestured to her outfit.
Viewers of the show were quick to slate the mum-of-two for her poor choice of words via Twitter, including actor Tristam Gemmil.

The popular soap star, known for his roles in Casualty and Coronation Street, tweeted: “The lowlight of the evening wasn’t the nul points, but Amanda Holden demonstrating perfectly why Europe thinks we’re an arrogant nation with a grossly overrated sense of our own importance, and why no one will ever vote for us.
“What a staggering misread of an audience that was.”
Many users theorised that the UK came out with zero points due to her speech alone .
Another viewer wrote: “On behalf of the whole of the UK, I apologise to #Eurovision for the embarrassment that is Amanda Holden making it all about her plus her stereotypical ‘I don’t speak foreign’” followed by three face palm emojis.
A third wrote: “A brilliant idea, post-Brexit, for Amanda Holden, the British jury representative, to remind everyone how ignorant we are of other people’s languages.
“And we wonder why we have nul points.”
Amanda, who recently broke down on live radio as she thanked the nurses who helped her get through her still birth, has yet to respond to the negative feedback from viewers.
One fumed: “Can’t believe Amanda Holden had a Eurovision intro being proud about not being able to speak any languages.
“Really narrow minded, gross, pathetic. Few other nations proud of monolingualism.”
A final commenter added: “What a joke. Couldn't tell the difference between French and Dutch? Really? Displaying the arrogance that so many English people do about languages.
“Utter embarrassment. No wonder about our score with idiots like that. Like Nigel Farage in a dress.”
Although it wasn’t just Amanda’s speech which rubbed viewers up the wrong way, but also her feathery dress which she picked out just for the occasion.
One user wrote: “I’m sorry but Amanda Holden’s dress looks like she plucked a turkey!”
Another chimed: “Why has Amanda Holden skinned an ostrich with that dress?”
