Chris Evans, 55, jokingly snapped at his Virgin Radio co-star Vassos Alexander, when he accidentally started to advertise his book on-air. The radio DJ wanted him to read an excerpt from his latest novel How to Run a Marathon: The Go-to Guide for Anyone and Everyone, but instead he gave a brief run-down, leaving Chris to interrupt.

Well… sorry

But he later had to apologise for being a hypocrite when Vassos pointed out he had done the same thing with his own.

After Chris had read aloud one chapter, which covered day 19 of training, he asked how colleague to carry on with another helpful tip.

However, instead of following his lead the sports reporter decided to do his own thing.

“It’s about all the training, injury prevention and nutritional tips…” he began with much enthusiasm before he was quickly interrupted.

“No! Hang on, hang on!” Chris exclaimed.

“You can’t… You can’t do that!”

He was also cut off by Vassos, who shouted back: “Well I am!”

Chris shook his head as he insisted: “You can’t do an advert!

“You’ve got to read an excerpt from the book!”

Giving in to the host’s demands, Vassos began to read out a sentence from part two of his novel before he was interrupted once again.

“Boring!” Chris shrieked as his co-star looked stunned.

“Boring!”

After the pair joked with Rachel Horne about giving them a “red card” for the on-air mistake, she scolded Chris for barging in on Vassos moment.

“You cut him off!” she said, as Chris gasped.

“He was doing an advert for his book!” he shrugged.

“We wanted actual juice from the book!”

Vassos retorted: “You did a whole advert from your book!”

Sheepishly, the presenter replied: “Did I?” Before realising his colleague was right.

“Well.. sorry,” he responded, coyly.
