Dion has released the official music video for his new single, “Bam Bang Boom,” which he created in collaboration with Billy Gibbons, the vocalist and guitarist of ZZ Top.
“I woke up angry, I stayed up late/I cursed the sunshine and I cursed my fate/Bam, bang, boom/Caroline, Caroline/You saved my soul, little girl/You eased my worried mind,” Dion croons in the chorus of the upbeat song that is dedicated to Susan Butterfield, his wife of 57 years.
The video appears to have been filmed “quarantine style,” which has now become a popular term for having been done in a way that is self-isolating and within the comfort of one’s home.
“This is another song that started as phrases I wanted to sing – ‘I stepped into love.’ The lyric does a good job of describing what happened when I first met Susan,” Dion said of the inspiration for the song.
He added, “We were both teenagers. She was new to my very Italian neighborhood in the Bronx, and she was a redheaded transplant from Vermont. Bam bang boom!”
The song will be featured on the singer’s forthcoming album, Blues With Friends, whose every track has been collaboratively performed alongside Dion’s friends from the worlds of Rock ‘n Roll, including Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, and Paul Simon, among others.
The 13-track record is slated for release on June 5, 2020, and is available for pre-order now.
