The Voice: Tom Jones jokes he’s ‘blocked’ Olly Murs
Tom Jones started his singing career in the 1960s and has since become known for his soulful voice on hits such as It’s Not Unusual and Delilah. The singer has also captured the hearts of the nation as he judges on The Voice UK. But what is known of the singer’s love life?
The Voice UK judge and his late wife Melinda Trenchard known as Linda first met when they were teenagers.
Talking of how he and Linda first crossed paths, he explained it was her legs which first caught his eyes.
While talking as part of a BBC Radio 2 documentary marking his 80th birthday, he said: “I remember her playing marbles and I thought, ‘My God, what great legs she’s got’.
“And then she stood up, and she was as pretty in the face as her legs were.

“Then we started playing kiss-chase. I felt different when I kissed her, and she felt the same way. We started dancing together when we were 15.
“She would look great. She was the best-looking girl around there, and we got together. It was magic.”
Linda later fell pregnant with their son Mark with the couple tying the knot in 1957.
The couple went on to be married for almost six decades before Linda’s death in 2016 after a “short but fierce” battle with lung cancer.
In June of 2016, Tom spoke candidly about Linda’s death for the first time as he admitted she was the “most important” thing in his life.
He told GQ: “We were married for 59 years, and we knew each other since we were kids.
“She has always been very important to me, throughout my life, now I realise she might be the most important thing in my life.

“I realise even more now how important she was to me, and she still is.”
Tom also opened up on the passing of Linda while talking on Lorraine in 2017.
The singer told host Lorraine Kelly: “When she passed it was sudden.
“In April she found out she had lung cancer and it was too late it was terminal.
“It was very very quick so it really knocked the stuffing out of me because we had been together since we were kids.
“We were kids together, and she’s always been there so it was a strange thing I didn’t know whether I would be able to carry on.”
The Voice UK will continue tonight on ITV from 8.30pm
