April 1 is fast-approaching – which means April Fools Day!
April Fools’ Day is the perfect excuse for some light-hearted trickery and to play jokes and pranks on your friends and family.
For hundreds of years jokers have played practical jokes on each other on this day.
As we are still in lockdown, it’s the perfect time to cheer your partner, kids, parents or friends up with some harmless fun.
Here we’ve rounded up some of the best pranks for you to have a go at.
But before you decide what to do, remember to be mindful and sensitive about the jokes you are planning – as not all jokes will work out as you’d hoped.
1. Elastic band frustration
Take one of your loved one’s most used object – like their phone or TV remote and wrap it in multiple layers of elastic bands. The more the better.
Now you can watch the frustration in their eyes as they try to free the item.
2. Toothpaste trick
This is a classic but hilarious prank. If you’re stuck for ideas, why not try replacing the filling of an Oreo biscuit with white toothpaste.
It looks really realistic, which is why it’ll be hilarious to watch when you offer it to your unsuspecting victim.
3. Surprise spider
Cut out spider shapes from black paper, and put them inside a lampshade to create silhouettes.
When the light is on it will look like there is a massive spider ready to pounce.
4. Dirty nappy prank

If you have a baby in the house, it’s a perfect time to horrify your spouse or other kids.
Melt some milk chocolate and put it on a nappy – so they can watch in horror while you taste the mess.
5. Change someone’s ringtone
This is also a classic and harmless joke – but can still be hilarious.
Change your partner’s ringtone to something that will really embarrass them – then call them while you’re in public.
6. Make them think their screen has cracked
Download a high resolution image of a cracked screen. You can just search on Google Images and find lots of options.
See the image as a wallpaper on the victim’s computer or phone.
7. Put googly eyes on everything
This is a simple but effective prank.

8. Bubble wrap prank
Place bubble wrap under a rug or bathmat to give the next person who steps on it a shock.
It’s particularly effective first thing in the morning, before the unsuspecting victim has had their coffee. The noise will no doubt wake them up fast!
9. Toilet roll with no end
Best Easter wine pairings to go with your chocolate eggs, hot cross buns, lamb and more
What is more frustrating than trying to find the end of a new toilet roll – only to keep spinning it endlessly.
Well you can make it even harder by spraying the loose edge of the toilet paper roll with hairspray.
10. Jelly drink
This prank requires some preparation, and needs to be done the day before.
Make some jelly in a glass, and offer it to your victim with a straw the next day.
Watch as they try with desperation to drink the jelly!
