Nigella Lawson divided opinion with one of her recipes this month.
The celebrity chef risked the wrath of Italians by pairing pasta with Marmite.
On Instagram, she wrote: “So many of you know and love this already, and the rest of you are probably horrified by it: #RecipeOfTheDay is Spaghetti with Marmite.
“Australians may obviously use vegemite. And Italians, don’t shout at me: this comes via the great Anna del Conte!”
Nigella’s post racked up 26,900 likes – but understandably, responses were rather love/hate.
While some swore by the recipe, others branded it an “abomination”.
One Instagram user said: “This recipe changed my life.
“I’ve never tasted anything so fabulous! Also a great hangover cure!
Another said: “We LOVE this in our house. Perfect lazy tea after a long day of work and school!”
A third wrote: “Yes!! I have been eating this deliciousness my entire life, I love that you've posted this! Its tangy, its carby, its lush.”
And a fourth added: “This sounds really nice!! Never thought of Marmite in pasta before!”
While there were many positive comments, some were offended by the dish.
One responder asked: “What the…? An abomination.”
Another admitted: “I’m horrified. And I am an Aussie.”
And a third added: “I am absolutely appalled, Nigella! Vegemite on buttered toast is divine but with pasta?”
