Now, they will also be limited to just one shop per week to free up more orders.

The rule applies across the board, including those who are considered vulnerable and those with a Delivery Saver account.

On Twitter the company said: “Thanks for getting in touch. Your account will be limited to one order per week.

“We’ve introduced a limit of one order per week, to help more customers secure a delivery slot.

“One slot a week applies to all Tesco Customers, not just those with a Delivery Saver Plan.”

Tesco has increase online orders to 1.2 million a week, and are still putting in measures to serve more customers.

When are Tesco delivery slots released?

There are currently no available Tesco’s home delivery slots for nearly another month.

At the time of writing (April 30), there is no general delivery available until May 20.

Other supermarkets are under much the same strain as Tesco and have now started to take their own precautions.

Most have no slots available, and others are restricting what they have.

Sainsbury’s has asked vulnerable customers to call if they need delivery, and they will be listed for priority if they do so.

In other supermarket rules, Aldi has introduced new payment rules for shopping in store.

Aldi has launched new vouchers to make it easy to pick up essential items for others.

Posting on Twitter, Aldi wrote: “Our shopping voucher is a great way to pay for shopping in store.

“It’s a cashless payment option that can be sent to your address, or one of your loved ones.

“Once you receive it, all you have to do is open it like money at your local Aldi. Order yours today.”

Aldi’s face mask policy has also been rolled out in all of its stores.

Aldi workers will now wear face masks.

A statement from Aldi said: “Aldi will be providing the option of face masks to all its store-based colleagues to further support their safety as they continue to feed the nation.

“This move is in addition to the previously announced provision of gloves and clear screens that are being installed at more than 7,000 checkouts. Colleagues can also now access the Government’s Covid-19 testing programme for critical workers.”
