David Beckham's son Romeo copies his famous braid hairstyle as he says he's 'trying something new'

DAVID Beckham's son Romeo is following in his famous dad's footsteps after copying his iconic braided hairstyle.

David, 44, tried out the plaited look during his footballing glory days in 2003 and 17-year-old Romeo has now decided to take on the look.

Romeo, who is David and wife Victoria's second-born, spent the weekend plaiting his usual, messy curtains into French braids.

The teen's new 'do also showed off a small hooped diamond earring, which is identical to the one his dad wore in 2003.

Sharing a snap of his new look on Instagram, Romeo told his 2.8 million followers: "Staying home coming up with new styles 😝😂."

Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: "Like father like son!"

A second said: "They’re better than my plaits😫!"

But rather than comparing Romeo to his dad, a third referenced Romeo's eight-year-old little sister Harper.

The fan joked: "Harper will think you are giving competition to her😂😂."

Romeo is currently living with his parents, Harper and 15-year-old brother Cruz at their luxury country home in the Cotswolds.

Older brother Brooklyn, meanwhile, is stuck in the US due to the ongoing travel restrictions put in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.

This weekend, the family's matriarch Victoria found herself coming under fire for furloughing 25 of her fashion staff.

The designer is said to have applied to use the Government's bailout scheme, which would see the taxpayer paying 80% of their wages of up to £2,500 per month per employee.

Victoria has chosen not to take a salary during the health emergency and has lost yet another senior executive after her chief marketing officer quit.

Outspoken Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan made his feelings known, demanding that she reconsider using the scheme as her family is worth an estimated £335 million.

Piers' GMB co-star, Susanna Reid, has however defended Victoria.
