Riverdale producer confirms Archie and Betty romance will reignite in season 5 – but with ‘major repercussions’ – The Sun

RIVERDALE's season 4 may have ended abruptly, but season 5 is sure to be filled with surprises.

The upcoming batch of episodes is set to feature new romances and insane twists, according to a producer on the show.

Season 4 introduced someof Riverdale's most cryptic plots yet, including Jughead's fake death hoax and the ongoing video tape mystery.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, season 4's production was cut short which meant that the remaining three episodes weren't going to be shot.

Warner Bros Television confirmed that they will resume filming once the US has lifted their lockdown restrictions.

In the latest episode,Killing Mr Honey, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Archie (KJ Apa) decided to end their relationship before things got too serious.

The childhood friends first kissed when Kevin (Casey Cott) put on the Variety Show protest in Wicked Little Town.

Sadly, their relationship ground to a halt when Archie decided to save their respective exes' heartbreak and call time on things.

Archie had previously dated Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes) and Betty dated Jughead.

Fans eager to see ''Barchie's'', relationship develop may not have to wait long as it's been confirmed that their story hasn't come to an end yet.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa spoke to TVLine about the upcoming season and what fans can expect.

“Betty ultimately put a stop to their relationship before it started, but is that door really closed for good?” he teased.

“The answer is no. We’ve definitely not seen the last of that story.

“But definitely, there are major, major repercussions for what Betty and Archie did that go down at prom, in true teen drama fashion. So no, we haven’t seen the end of that story by a long shot.”

Seasons 1-4 of Riverdale are available to stream on Netflix.
