Rylan Clark-Neal says he's 'in a bad place' and is ‘seeking help’ as he blames his mistakes for split from husband Dan

HEARTBROKEN Rylan Clark-Neal has spoken for the first time since the breakdown of his six year marriage – saying his own “mistakes” were responsible for the break-up.

Yesterday I revealed the hugely popular star was taking a break from his radio and TV roles to deal with the sad decision to separate from husband Dan – having missed his successful Radio 2 show for seven weeks.

And now Rylan, who also missed hosting EuroVision and has been absent from This Morning and social media, has made the brave decision to speak out and take responsibility for the couple’s problems.

He hoped to set the record straight after other news outlets began to speculate incorrectly over the cause of their sad separation.

In a heartfelt statement, he told me: “Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel I have to speak out – as the way it is being reported is unfair.

“I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage.”

Sadly, the star added that he has also decided to “seek help” after battling with personal issues – which will see him away from the airwaves for a while longer.

He said: “I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.

“I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time.”

Rylan, 32, has taken a break from his Radio 2 show and stepped away from hosting Eurovision in the wake of the decision.

Sources insist he will be back on air soon.

One said: “Rylan’s one of the most beloved people on TV so fans will be sad to hear what has happened.

“He often spoke of their relationship on air and they even co-hosted an episode of This Morning but unfortunately things haven’t worked out.

“They don’t want to discuss it in public and a bit of time off is probably for the best for now.

“It’s one of those things. All those close to them wish them all the best.”

Rylan first found fame as a contestant on The X Factor in 2012. He then became one of Britain’s most recognisable TV faces after winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.

The same year he met ex-Met Police detective Dan, who it is understood has moved out of their home to a rented flat in Essex.

Rylan interviewed him on Big Brother spin-off Big Brother’s Bit on the Side after contestant Dan was evicted.
