Unimpressed A Place in The Sun couple refuse to step inside £81k apartment

Ben Hillman had a difficult job on a recent episode of A Place in the Sun when a picky couple found a fault with all five properties he showed them in Fuerteventura.

The Canary Islands resort is a favourite holiday spot for Brits and Paul and Debbie from Staffordshire went on the Channel 4 show to find a two-bedroom apartment on a budget of £115,000.

Ben showed them around flats in and around the pretty coastal town of Caleta de Fuste, but none of them were up to scratch in the eyes of the couple.

At the third property, on the market for £81,897 at the time of filming, Paul and Debbie refused to step inside.

It was situated around a pretty courtyard with a communal garden but the couple were not impressed and they didn't like a single thing about it.

Taking them to view the apartment, Ben asks them: "What are you thinking?"

Debbie bluntly replies: "Shocking."

"Shocking?" echoes an appalled-sounding Ben, "That’s stopped me in my tracks, ok."

"I’m struggling to find anything to like about it," adds Paul.

Ben suggests they at least get a closer look at the duplex’s garden and reminds them it’s on the market for a competitive £82,000

"At the moment I’m struggling at £82," hit back Paul, while Debbie laughed.

Ben manages to take them into the gardens at the centre of the courtyard-style apartments and Debbie concedes they are nice but says she doesn’t get "the feeling".

"There’s not a single thing I like about it," Paul says again.

Ben asks them if he is "flogging a dead horse" and Debbie says she won’t even step inside so they leave without having a proper look.

Unsurprisingly, Debbie and Paul found fault with every single property Ben showed them, even though they had what they wanted on paper and were inside their budget.

They went back to the UK without making any offers and Ben admitted he'd found it a "struggle" but hoped they'd find their dream holiday home in a future visit.
