Who is Pete Davidson's dad Scott Davidson?

COMEDIAN Pete Davidson has been cracking jokes left, right and centre since first appearing on American sketch show Saturday Night Live in 2014.

But behind the scenes, his family have suffered tragedy with the death of Pete's father Scott. Here's everything you need to know.

Who is Pete Davidson's dad Scott Davidson?

Pete was born in November 1993 to parents Amy and Scott on Staten Island, New York.

His father was a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department at the time of the September 11 attacks, aged just 33.

Scott was last seen running up the stairs of the Marriott World Trade Centre hotel just minutes before the second Twin Tower collapsed and was later confirmed dead.

Before joining the fire department in 1994, Scott had graduated from the College of Staten Island where he received a bachelor's degree in history, and in the early days of his career he served as a basketball coach.

Hero Scott had a lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter, and often said it was the 'greatest job in America.'

Pete was just seven years old at the time of his father's passing, which had a devastating impact on the youngster's mental health.

Pete later revealed that he would rip his hair out to make himself bald, and he struggled with suicidal thoughts right through his teenage years.

The funnyman revealed that his new movie, The King of Staten Island, which explores his upbringing on the island, helped him to come to terms with his father's passing.

Speaking to Sky News, Pete said: "As someone who's open with struggles and issues, I think I'm always learning and growing. Making this film allowed me to grow more as a person."

He added: "One of the main reasons why I wanted to make this movie and tell this story was because I wanted this chapter in my life to be closed.

"Not forgotten, but I wanted to be able to move on and show that it's okay to have issues and it's okay to struggle and that you're not alone and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel."

The comedian has also revealed that he has his father's badge number, 8418, tattooed on his left arm.
