Ariel Robinson, season 20 winner of Worst Cooks In America, has been arrested for the murder of a three-year-old girl.
The child, named by police as Victoria Rose, was found unresponsive in the Robinsons’ home having suffered ‘multiple blunt force injuries’.
She was later confirmed to be dead at the hospital.
Robinson, 29, as well as her husband Jerry Robinson, 34, were taken in by police in Simpsonville, South Carolina on January 14.
Both are facing counts of homicide by child abuse, and if found guilty face 20 years to life in prison.
Justin Lee, a spokesperson for Simpsonville police, confirmed the news in a statement to People, and said: ‘It is a sad day. You bring charges and maybe convictions, but at the end of the day, the life of a child was taken.
‘For anyone who knew the victim or was related to the victim, they are in our thoughts and prayers.’
Robinson appeared on Worst Cooks in America last year, admitting that she wanted to be a better cook for her family.
The mother-of-five won $25,000 (£18,300) in August 2020 after being trained by professional chefs to turn her bad food into something more palatable.
The show was hosted by chefs Anne Burrell and Alex Guarnaschelli.
Since the news about the death broke, the Food Network has pulled Robinson’s season from all streaming services, including Hulu and YouTube.
They have not addressed the arrest in any other way.
