Unruly passenger leaps from aircraft taxiing down LAX runway

An unruly passenger jumped from the door of a plane taxiing for takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport Friday night after allegedly attempting to breach the cockpit.

The male suspect allegedly jumped onto the plane’s automatically inflated emergency slide and was treated for injuries at a local hospital, according to FOX 11 of Los Angeles.

He reportedly tried to open the cockpit door multiple times before opening and leaping out the exit door.

United flight 5365, operated by SkyWest Airlines, was bound for Salt Lake City. It departed at 10:36 p.m., nearly four hours behind schedule.

The airport suffered another security scare the previous night, when a suspect allegedly breached a gate at a FedEx air cargo facility and drove onto the airfield. At least two runways were temporarily shut down as the driver was taken into custody.

The Thursday night incident unfolded as Prince Harry was at LAX awaiting a flight to Britain, according to reports.

Vice President Kamala Harris had reportedly landed at the airport Friday earlier in the day.
